How to Get a Fast Computer

So your once trusty and reliable computer that was fast and error-free is now slow and buggy. You turn on your PC and it takes more than 5 minutes for it to boot up. You start Microsoft Word and minutes later it is still loading or your surfing the internet and the screen freezes and stalls forcing you to turn it off and back on again.

Believe it or not, the above is more common than not. AS time goes by, your computer gets full of programs, applications, spyware, malware, and becomes loaded down with software that mostly is not needed. Below are three things that you can do right now to speed up your PC and make it a blazing fast computer!

The first thing you can do is clean out your hard drive. Go through and organize your files, music, media, movies, etc... Just like you clean your office and clutter can make you less efficient. Organize your files and deleting the ones you no longer need can free up dome extra space. For the big files mostly media, store them on a separate CD which can save you lots of space.

Then after you organize your files you need to defrag your hard drive. This can be done through the Start Menu >> Accessories >> System tools. Then from there pick disk Defragmenter. Defragging your hard drive will organize your files that are written and group them together to make it easy for your PC to find and use it.

Second you should run weekly spyware and virus scans. Spyware can wreak havoc on your internet speed and viruses can literally disable your computer. Spyware is mostly put on your computer without you even knowing it. When you visit certain websites they will put what is called a 'cookie' on your computer to track what kind of sites you visit and to gather statistics. Every time you close out internet explorer you can delete the cookies and temporary files. This will definitely give you more speed when surfing the internet. There are a handful of free programs to sort out spyware as well as anti-virus programs to guard your PC from any attacks.

Last, but not least you should periodically clean your registry. Your windows registry is the command center of your computer and everything that runs, first passes through here. A corrupt and bloated registry will make a fast computer a slow one. It can also accumulate corrupt entries and invalid ones. This is often caused by installing programs and uninstalling them. Every time you do this is marks an entry on the registry and then deletes it. Manually trying to clean your registry can be slightly tricky and it is recommended you invest in a good registry cleaner.

There are a handful of registry cleaners out there, but you will want to invest in a solid one. Many offer free scans to show you the potential threats that my affect your computer speed. Take advantage of this and run the free scan. You may be surprised in what you find!

Internet Fax Vs Computer Fax - Which One Should You Choose?

In the beginning, there was only the facsimile machines. When the PC (computer) gained wide acceptance by the masses, fax softwares were created and computer fax was born. Then came cyberspace, which brought along one of its offsprings - Internet fax For small and big businesses who are looking for greater faxing functionalities beyond what traditional fax machines could provide, which should they choose? Computer fax or internet fax?

Computer fax as its name suggests, is actually just any ordinary computer which has a fax software installed. This enables the computer to double as a virtual fax machine which can receive and send faxes - all from the hard disk. This means machine maintenance, paper jams problems, purchasing of fax papers, and misplaced fax become a thing of the past. To make it work, a phone line and a modem is needed.

In general, computer fax is sufficient for businesses which is basically localised in nature, meaning only operating within a certain town or city. It is also the best option if the firm's customers are still dependent on the legacy fax machines and have yet to embrace online technology (such as electronic email).

Internet fax on the other hand, allows users to receive and send faxes online (via the internet) as email attachments. Internet fax is ideal for businesses which have a national or international clientele. This option is great because the cost of faxing nationally or internationally can really add up whether its using computer fax or the ordinary fax machines. In contrasts, internet fax service is convenient and more economical. Of course its use also reflect a level of professionalism in the eyes of customers.

The similarities of computer fax and internet fax are that they are both easy to set up and use, and investment in a fax machine is not required. Furthermore, all faxes sent and received are stored inside the hard disk, which translates to mean savings in terms of paper and cartridges. This is possible because all faxes received can be viewed on screen first, and irrelevant ones deleted. This is not possible with the ordinary fax machines as all incoming faxes need to be printed out.

In terms of mobility, internet fax is tops because faxes can be sent or received anywhere and at anytime in the world where an internet service is available. Computer fax can also be mobile if the fax software is installed on a laptop, but the receiving of faxes can be a problem. For instance, if the user flies to Japan and he wants to fax something to a client in Australia, all he needs is a phone line. But to receive faxes can be a big problem if the businessman tends to move around a lot as his cients won't know the fax number to reach him at any moment in time. The only option available is to fax to his (businessman) official office address.

Another advantage internet fax has over computer fax is that no faxes will be missed because it will all end up in the e-mail box which can be retrieved at any time of the day. This may not be possible with computer fax To receive or send faxes, both the computer and modem need to be turned on all the time. This may not be practical for several reasons.

To recap, both computer fax and internet fax have their pros and cons. The best one for your business really depends on the nature of your business.

Understanding Computer Forensics Reports - A Loud Whisper!

I can hear it now! You are letting the cat out of the bag. By explaining computer forensic reports, you are aiding and helping computer criminals to cover their tracks.

But, there is always another side to an argument. By releasing this information, it can help people help computer forensic experts catch the criminals. Besides, people who commit computer crimes are very good at what they do. I am not releasing anything here they may not already know.

With that out of the way, let's dive in.

What makes up computer forensics reports? Where does the information come from? Who puts them together?

Let's start with the Who.

Computer forensics reports are prepared by computer forensics investigators. They gather the necessary information, analyze them and then draft out the final computer forensics reports. As good as they are, computer criminals oftentimes leave behind clues which aid the investigators to track down the root cause of their crime.

Even when the files have been deleted from the specific location in the computer, the original data is not at all erased from the entire computer system. With certain techniques, tools, and skills that the investigators are equipped with, the analysis of the fraudulent act or crime can be made with such accuracy.

Where does the computer forensic report information come from?

There are four main areas where the investigators gather their evidence from. There are other areas which are looked into but the following are the most commonly looked areas.

1. The Saved Files:
These are easy. If you saved it, it's in the computer. All the investigator needs to do is open them up to examine them. They don't need anything special to view or examine them.

2. The Deleted Files:
When data is deleted, it is put in the trash bin. The computer forensic expert will look in the bin to see what is in it.

The tougher part is the deleted files that have also been deleted from the trash bin. These will require special software in order to restore them.

3. The Temporary Files:
These data are produced when one browses through the Internet, works on any document, and uses some other types of backup software and other installations and applications.

You can open some temporary files on the computer they reside on without any special software or tool. Others will require the use of special tool or software.

4. The Meta Data:
The Meta data gives you the details of a document or file. Among the details which appear include the date that such files had been created, modified, and the last time when it was accessed. You can even get information about the creator of the file.

Computer Faxing Programs

Computer faxing programs let you send and receive faxes from the comfort of your own computer. This is the most modern an effective way to find and receive documents online with quality results and without the need of having to purchase fax machine along with their supplies and maintenance. If you want quality, speed, and effectiveness, computer faxing is for you.

Using this computer faxing programs is very easy if you know your way around a computer. In their most basic form, you just need to select the document you wish to send and it will be sent as an e-mail to then be converted into a fax document, compatible with other fax software and machines. However, the modern computer faxing programs offer more than just that.

Current fax software allow you to track all the documents you've sent and received (a specially useful feature when using fax software technology in business), categorize your faxing, and broadcast faxes (allowing you to reach hundreds of customers/providers at once). And not only that, this software usually lets you also keep track of other types of communications such as phone calls, instant messaging, and e-mail.

To start with computer faxing programs I recommend you to first read a little more about the topic and take a look at your available options. If you don't like installing software, you can even take advantage of Internet faxing services. These services allow you to send and receive faxes according to a monthly fee (which is always around $10 per month), they offer free trials, so you can take better end decision.

As you see, computer fax software not only brings you speed, but also reliability and quality, a much needed feature in any type of communication.

Offload Your Investment and Lease Your Computer Equipment

People who buy computers are forever caught in the upgrade loop. By the time you open the box on a new computer, the thing becomes obsolete. This is because computers and related equipment are constantly undergoing upgrades.

This fact can cause a pretty hefty hit to the wallet if you plan to keep up with the ever expanding demands of computer technology. This can be especially true if you need to buy a desktop, laptop or other items for a small business.

There is however, a solution to this maddening cycle.

Computer Equipment leasing

Although leasing computer equipment can be more expensive in some ways than buying a system, in other ways, it is extremely beneficial.

The major advantages

- You can stay on the cutting edge of computer technology. Leases last between 3-5ears which is the basic cycle of IT related upgrading.

- You can replace faulty equipment and have it serviced, something you may not be able to do with a computer that you own.

- Leased computers come with 1 800 Call Center numbers. In other words, if something happens to your computer you can call to have an IT tech walk you through fixing the problem. With an outright purchase you have to pay for this service. With a lease, the feature generally comes with the computer.

- You won't have to worry about depreciation factors, since you would be cycling the computer every 3-5 years depending on your leasing agreement.

- You will be able to try different computers, programs and brands, even swapping out certain items, like monitors or printers, at your discretion.

- You can spread out payments over time as opposed to paying a lump sum of money all at once.

- Depending on the agreement, you can get your computer or equipment replaced if something happens to it.

How to lease computer equipment

Now that you're interested in leasing equipment, you wonder how to get started. Well, the first thing you may wish to do is perform an online search for a company that offers this service. Once located, you can call them for direct quotes.

If you want to lease a specific brand, you can also call the manufacturer first to see if they offer "direct leasing".

What to expect

Most leasing firms offer a contract where a monthly fee is established. The fee will depend on how many months the computer is leased for. Obviously, leasing will be more expensive in the long run, but when you consider the add-on's you are getting, the extra fee is well worth it.

Be sure to ask about various options, such as if you'll have the ability to upgrade or renew your computer at the end of the lease agreement. New terms may be established at that time.

Types of equipment leased

There are several different types of equipment besides computers that can be leased for your business or home office. The equipment you choose will depend on your needs and wants at the time of leasing.

The items most often leased are:

- PC and MAC desktops

- Notebooks and lap tops

- Monitors and

- Printers

Parts and accessories can also be leased depending on the company and the contract. All items could be subject to warranties.

Home and Business offices benefit

Whether you are a small business or a telecommuter with an in home office, you can greatly benefit from leasing equipment as opposed to purchasing a computer outright. Before you make a final decision in this regard, make sure you shop around for the best deal. Ask questions and do your homework, taking nothing for granted.

Upgrade Your Computer to Get Better Performance!

If your computer has been running slower than you like, or you have been dealing with poor performance and lots of crashes, it might be time for an upgrade. New programs and games with a higher demand on system resources mean that older computers aren't always up to the task.

However, before you go out to get a new machine, think about upgrading. Almost every kind of computer can be upgraded to one degree or another. Here's some basic information about what you can improve about your computer and how to do it.

Laptop or Desktop?

Your ability to upgrade your computer for better performance will depend in part on which type of computer you have. Laptop computers are small and portable, but they trade off some of their serviceability and upgradeability for a more compact shape.

Even though fewer parts are upgradeable in a laptop, you can still squeeze a little bit of better performance out of them by adding new RAM or a larger battery.

Mac or PC?

Macintosh computers also have a few more limitations when it comes to upgrades. That's because their parts are less generic than PCs, and they often discourage user servicing. You can replace a number of parts in a Mac, but not as many as a PC, which you can overhaul on your own.

If you're doing something more complicated than installing RAM or a user serviceable card, you're better off taking your Mac in for service. The same goes if you have a PC with a warranty that specifies that you're not allowed to open the computer case.

Parts You Can Upgrade

Memory is the easiest and most common upgrade you can do on your own, and it can make your computer run memory intensive programs much more quickly. Replacing the RAM requires finding the right type, and making sure that your computer can handle the additional memory.

Some older machines will have a low upper limit on the amount of memory you can put in them. Without a complete overhaul, it's not possible to exceed this.

Find out what sort of memory you'll need, and what speed it should be. Different types of memory are made not to fit into incompatible slots, so you can't force a newer chip into your older computer.

Most computers can be upgraded to at least one Gb of memory, and many can handle up to four. Laptops require different memory than desktop machines, so make sure you buy the right thing!

Another easy upgrade is the graphics card. However, you should know a few things about your computer before you buy one. Very old computers may not have graphics ports that are compatible with modern cards, or the motherboard that runs your computer may not be able to recognize an extremely new card.

When in doubt, look online, call the company which made your computer, or talk to an expert. If you're playing a lot of games, upgrading your graphics card could improve the speed of them, reduce lag and make them look a lot better.

The last easy to upgrade component in many computers is the hard drive. You can either replace an old drive, or add a secondary one to give you more space. This is particularly useful if you're storing a lot of big files, such as videos. An overly full hard drive can also cause slowdowns and poor performance.

Computer Book Review - Microsoft's Next Leap Forward

One of the greatest success stories of all times in the business world is perhaps the story and history of Microsoft. Selling software is a great business because once you create it, you can indeed sell it millions of times. And Microsoft has the advantage because their operating systems run on 95% of all computers in the World. Under the leadership of Bill Gates in all his creating brilliance and genius, he created one of the most dynamic and largest companies on a surface of the planet.

But now that Bill Gates has left the company, many are wondering what comes next. Microsoft is no longer just a software company, as they are involved in the Internet, they run the second largest, and many would agree the best search engine and they are involved in online advertising. Microsoft is also a media company amongst other things. Their research and development departments are on the leading technological edge of just about everything.

Many its software industry analysts wonder what will be the next step for Microsoft. Will Microsoft break off into a spinoff companies? Now that the Federal Trade Commission's unwarranted attacks are completed with Microsoft and the now that Bill Gates has left the company, where will they go today? Indeed, there seems to be a lot of pretty strong opinions and countless predictions on this subject.

Computer Forensics Necessary in the War on Terror

There are some dedicated folks in law enforcement and our CIA that are computer forensic experts. They along with the US Military and International Intelligence community are busy working to infiltrate, track and catch International Terrorists before they strike. Easier said than done and it takes one heck of a lot of cooperation to make all this happen, but it is happening and there have been several high profile success stories as well.

Computer forensics are necessary in the war against those who wish us ill and are sworn to attack innocent civilians and soft targets that will cause death and destruction and disrupt our infrastructures, national economies of scale and nation's financial strength. And we must continue to fill the voids and shortages of qualified personal as there is a severe skill requirement to computer forensics with a shortage of experts.

What does someone need to participate in computer forensics? Well, most likely they will need courses in human psychology, criminal justice and a computer science advanced degree. That is a lot of schooling and it would take a number of years for someone to accomplish all that. This is why there are so few applicants considering the number of jobs that must be filled.

Today, there are many Universities fast tracking these degrees to fulfill the job markets. They are bundling the essentials and ditching the rest of the curriculum allowing students to get an actual degree or master's degree in Computer Forensics. This is one step in the right direction, however filling the needs for qualified degreed folks will take many years and things are growing in this sector by leaps and bounds. Please consider this.

Considering on Implementing a Computer System - Some Thoughts on That

If you are a decision maker that will be making recommendations, advising, consulting or even making the final and actual decision on a new computer or IT system then you need to understand the best process. Today's IT systems are costly and understanding this process will keep your organization from making mistakes. Thus, I'd like to recommend a very good book to you:

"Computers for Jumping Profits; Understanding, Selecting, Evaluating and Implementing Computer Systems" by David C. Dykstra; 1983.

This book tells you how to set up a computer system for any small, medium or large business or any organization or government agency. Although the book is older and the technology has changed over the years, the fundamental principles of planning, budgeting, ratios and accounting remain the same.

The author discusses the various folks involved and who their different motivations cause conflict in the implementation phase if a more analytical approach is not taken in the decision making process. For instance the author uses the example of implementing IBM Mainframes and micro-computers and how the advisors and salespeople with different objectives have very different perspectives.

This creates a false reality when doing strategic planning and asset allocations, cost analysis and estimates of return on investment thru productivity and efficiency. The author also discusses employee training costs, temporary slow down until the users are up to speed and other human factors to be considered.

Since this book has to do with IT systems, it also discusses issues with feature creep, challenges with speed, configuration and potential failure. Sometimes IT professionals and definitely their superiors get too caught up in the newest and latest technology and not the reality, functionality or cost.

Computer Hardware Course - The Advantages of Taking It

Computer hardware courses are an excellent way to learn how to manage the inevitable computer failures that you will encounter as you find yourself depending on your computer more and more everyday. While you do have the option of taking your computer to the service center it can cost you a lot of time and money. Your computer hardware course is invaluable for helping you understand the hardware requirements for your computer that will be enable you to jump to the rescue instead of trudging along to the repair shop.

It does not take an engineer or a technician to be successful in learning about computer hardware. If you are interested in engineering or technician positions however, a background in computer hardware can make you a far more valuable person in your field and can enhance your employability tremendously.

To troubleshoot your computer you can do very well with a simple computer hardware course. You can become your own specialist and forgo spending the money on an IT specialist.

The time invested in a computer hardware study program will pay off quickly when things go wrong. But, this is not the only reason taking a computer hardware course would be a good plan.

Not only will you be able to fix your computer, but you will have the knowledge to build a computer from scratch. The cost of computer parts is often far less expensive than buying a pre-made package. You will also be able to customize your computer so that it is perfectly designed for your needs.

By avoiding the cost of labor from the computer store you will have a far less expensive computer that is perfect for you. You will also no longer need to worry about taking your computer in for repairs as you will know just how to fix what goes wrong.

Computer knowledge is in high demand no matter what career you are involved in. With the information you learn in a computer hardware course you will be able to take on an IT position. Such positions are in high demand as a limited number of people have the knowledge to take on an IT role.

The time needed to take a computer hardware course is well worth the investment. Learning about software and programming can only make you even better with your computer goals. If you are limited in time, not to worry. Many courses are available online or on CD for you to do at home.

Take some time to discover exactly what will be covered in your course. The computer technology field is huge, so you will need to focus. You will never be able to learn everything about computer hardware in a single course. It takes a lifetime of study to learn, and with technology constantly changing you will need to continually work on keeping your knowledge up to date. A computer hardware course will bring you a chance to get ahead of the game and keep up with your own computer.

Computer Book Review - DOS

One of the biggest problems with computer users is that they really do not understand how their computer actually works. They do not fully comprehend the binary codes, which everyone should understand. They do not understand how the electronics work in their computer; they just do not get it they do not know how things work like the mother board, CPU, hard drive or understand the software or how it all works.

Perhaps, worst of all they do not understand operating systems and thus, are beholden to whatever they see on the screen and are fine as long as everything is working and nothing crashes. They do whatever the screen tells them without thinking or considering their alternatives, as they believe they do not have any, ah but they do, they just don't know it.

Everyone should understand the operating system on their computer, these things are not that difficult and once they do, it opens a whole new world. And believe me you do not need a computer degree to understand the operating system on your computer. Of course, if you want to learn about operating systems, principles and the philosophy of how and why they work, I suggest you start at the beginning and learn a little about DOS.

Why is My Computer So Slow? The Answer Might Surprise You

Most internet users, at some point or another will find themselves wondering - why is my computer so slow? And most people really have no idea what the answer to that question is.

While there could be a number of different reasons that your computer is running slow i.e. hardware related issues with memory or processor, a badly fragmented drive, not enough memory installed etc. -
more often that people realize, the number one reason that your computer is running so slow is related to spyware. It is everywhere, and in fact studies have shown that over 90% of all internet users will become infected with spyware at some point.

So the question you now need to answer is - how do I know for sure I am infected with spyware and how can I get rid of it?

Well the very first thing you can do, which most people fail to do, is to scan your PC for spyware. Most antispyware software will allow you to download their software and run a free scan on your computer. This is a pretty simple process and should take you no more than 5 minutes to downland and full install the software.

Once that scan is complete, which in most cases will take anywhere from 5-15 minutes, you'll be able to view the full results of that scan. On the results screen you'll typically be able to view a variety of information - including the number of infections you have, the types of infections you have, and the severity of the infection.

Once a scan has identified that you do have spyware infections that are on your PC, the next step you'll want to take is to go ahead and get full version of the antispyware software so that you can safely and effectively remove all instances of spyware from your computer.

Failing to scan and remove spyware from your computer will probably leave you continually wondering "Why is my computer so slow?"

Computer Based Training Methodology

CBT or otherwise known as computer based methodology is the best way to get you trained on any computer training. You can learn from basics to advanced level in computers through computer based methodology.

If you want to learn the basics like MS Office, Outlook Express, to IT certification programs like MCSE training, CCNA training to advanced networking can be learned through CBT.

The advantages of learning online are that you can attend the online classes at your time suitable for you. You don't have to travel to the computer centers to learn these. These online computer training programs will teach you even by one on one methodology where you can interact with the tutors and get your doubts clarified then and there itself just like your regular classes.

Since the CBT is based on learning through self-help method, hence you develop self reliance and self learning skills and don't have to depend on someone always to learn a new thing. This can be either the basics of computing to advanced levels in computer training.

If you are a computer novice you can certainly join any computer based training methodology programs. They teach you from basics like letting you learn all the MS Office products like Word, Excel, Access and Powerpoint. And you can follow a step by step approach on learning and can even reach the advanced stage to become a computer expert all by yourself without anyone's help outside. Thus you make use of the program to its full potential.

Such programs do also offer you video tutorials so that you can experience a live classroom atmosphere with CBT and learn it even faster than the regular classrooms since you have the option of rewinding the course wherever you have doubts and hence understand it better when compared with regular classrooms.

Instead of spending huge sum of money on computer training programs where most of them charge you a premium for such computer courses, you can join and start learning computer courses with ease and cheaper way. You not only save huge sum of money with online computer learning but also save the precious time which you might be wasting on commuting and idle time when at regular class whereas in online classes you can continue with your other work as soon as you finish your training session. Hence making it an ideal way to learn computers for housewives and working professionals.

iPod to Computer Transfer Tutorial - How Can I Copy Songs From My iPod to a New PC?

Not long ago, my hard drive crashed and along with it went my entire iTunes library of nearly 10,000 songs. At first, I panicked, then I remembered that the entire collection was on my iPod. When I got my new PC, I thought I'd be able to install iTunes and sync it back. I was dead wrong.

In its default setting, iTunes only allows the transfer process to go one way - from the computer to your iPod. If your computer music library is empty, it will sync your iPod to the empty library meaning everything on your iPod will be erased. Lucky for me, I figured this out before I clicked the sync button.

After I determined that this was not an option, I hit Google and started searching for solutions. I read several tutorials for how to transfer the data on my own. Unfortunately, I was not comfortable doing it on my own. I have thousands of dollars invested in my music library and I did not trust my own abilities to transfer the songs without screwing something up.

I was relieved when I discovered a handful of programs out there to assist people in the situation I found myself in. I researched several of the programs and read reviews before finally settling on the Lenogo iPod/iPod Touch/iPhone to PC Transfer program. There are actually several highly rated programs out there to get this done. I chose this particular program over the others because it offered a free trial version where I could test it out before buying it and because the reviews were positive.

I was pleasantly surprised with how easy this program was to use. I downloaded the free trial and installed in on my new computer. I then connected my iPod to the computer (shut down iTunes when it tried to automatically load) and then ran the Lenogo program.

Once everything was started up, I was able to see all of the songs on my iPod through the Lenogo software. I then selected all of the songs and chose a folder on my new computer where I wanted them copied. About 15 minutes later, I was done. I had saved all of my songs and now had them backed up to the new computer.

Later I reopened iTunes and imported all of the music from the folder I had saved the music in and re-synced the iPod. It worked without a hitch. If you find yourself in this situation, don't sweat it. Your music is not forever lost!

Best Computer Protection - 5 Tips to Keeping Your PC Virus and Spyware Free

Even the best computer protection isn't 100% effective. It can be exhausting to keep your computer safe from spyware and viruses. As soon as you get online your computer becomes a target for both. The steps below will help you protect your pc from these attacks.

1. Turn on Windows Updates-

It is critical to have the latest security patches and updates for your operating systems. These patches close known holes and problems in the system and can prevent easy access to your computer. The best computer protection is to leave Windows Updates turned on automatic and get all the updates daily.

2. Setup a Free Email Account-

It is highly recommended that you setup an email account with one of the free services like hotmail, yahoo or gmail. While on the Internet, you will find a lot useful information that will require an email address. In some case your email address is sold and is spammed until it shuts down. This free account will allow you to sign up without risking your personal email account.

3. Setup a Personal Firewall-

A personal firewall is the best computer protection available. This software basically makes your pc invisible to viruses, worms, spyware and hackers. Setting up a firewall is the first thing you should do before you connect to the internet. Without this piece of software your computer could be infected in as little as 60 seconds after connecting to the net.

4. Anti-Spyware Software-

Spyware also referred to as malware programs can cause a lot of problems with your computer. They can track your personal information and send it out to anywhere they want. The best computer protection against this is to get this type of software and keep it updated. Some are free and some not. Be sure to investigate before you get either.

5. Anti-Virus Software-

Most new computers come with Anti-Virus software these days. It might be Norton, Kaspersky or any other number of brands. It doesn't matter which one you have, you will have to update it every day. Each day new viruses are created and put on the internet. This is the best computer protection against viruses but, does no good if not kept up to date.

The last three items can be bought together in one package program. Usually this is the best computer protection because the firewall, anti-spyware, and anti-virus are guaranteed to work together properly.

Using Two Monitors on One Computer

You might ask why anyone would use two monitors on one computer but there are reasons. Known as dual computer monitors, these have a number of benefits. One good reason for using two monitors is for anyone in the photography business. For example, individuals working on digital photos, trying to view, study, and arrange, using a second monitor is a great help.

With a dual computer screen, you can indeed double work and also desktop space. One of the most common pc screens is the LCD. These are aesthetically pleasing and they are very space sufficient. Therefore, one who does not have a lot desk area would benefit from the LCD monitor. Now, for people on a budget, a CRT monitor is also a good choice but larger.

When it comes to using a dual computer screen, again the best benefit is for anyone in photography or an individual who works with graphics and digital images. Some of the main benefits include:

Browsing a photo library, putting all pictures on one screen in thumbnail view and then looking at the pictures on a full screen on the second monitor whereby the picture could be focused and manipulated.

Editing photographs is also much easier by using dual computer monitors. For instance, one monitor can be used for browsing photographs on the internet or through some type of photo library and then with the second screen, photos can be edited using a special software program.

Even staying current with email is a benefit of having two screens on one computer. For home businesses or individuals in corporate America, receiving tons of emails is common. With two screens, someone could display all new emails coming in while the other can be used for other types of work.

The bottom line is that dual pc monitors have a number of advantages for home users or individuals in the marketplace. While the pc speed would not increase, productivity would since the person is better equipped to stay better organized and multi task in a way like never before. This direction has become so popular that it is becoming a normal part of buying a computer and screen.

Today, there are a number of pcs on the market that are engineered to support a dual computer screen without having to pay extra cash or time in getting hardware set up. Consequently, if you have a newer pc, you might already have the capacity to work on two monitors on one computer. To check, look at the back part of the pc where you would see two VGA connectors or DVI connectors, or in some cases, both.

If your computer is not engineered with a port for working on dual computer monitors, then you can go to a local pc or electronics store and purchase the needed hardware. For this, sometimes the hardware is something you could install yourself but often times a professional's help is needed.

Clean Your Computer's Registry With These Easy Steps

You must know that your computer is not just your monitor. You will be really amazed to know how many computer users think that way. They think that the monitor is the only part of their computer because that's the only thing they see. They consider the computer no differently than a television set. But you must know that there is a very lively system working relentlessly to keep your computer working. This is the operating system of your computer. It is your operating system that makes your computer do what it does - each and every single thing. But the OS needs something to fall back upon. This is why the registry is important.

The registry is used like a temporary storage area by the computer OS. The information on every function the computer performs is stored on its registry. This is your computer's back office. This is where the real work happens; what you see on the screen is just the output.

But the registry is prone to being overloaded. As your computer grows older, the OS will use the registry more and more. Shreds of files will remain on the registry. These are unused files or even corrupt files. They happen due to a lot of reasons. If you install a program and then uninstall it improperly, then some files will be left behind. When you use the Internet, a lot of files are stored in the cache memory by the computer to make your browsing easier the next time you visit the site. There are dozens of reasons why these files are created. But the main point is that you need to remove them. If you do not, they will simply overburden your PC and one day, it will refuse to even start.

If you are thinking that it will be a very difficult process to clean computer's registry, you are partly right. And it is risky too. You will have to actually open the registry folder of your computer and check all the files there. Then you will have to judge which of these are the bad files and then delete them. But if you are not too sure, you may delete some useful files that could be very dangerous to your computer.

The best thing to do is to just install a good program that can clean computer's registry. There are several good applications available for download on the Internet, such as Registry Easy, Reg Cure and Error Nuker. Just install one of these programs on your computer and run it once a week. The program will itself scan the registry and find out all errors. It will report these errors to you and you have the option of allowing the program to fix all errors by itself or to fix them manually. Whichever way you choose, your task becomes infinitely easier.

A clean computer's registry means that your computer will perform at its immaculate best. But you should not attempt such cleaning yourself. You may end up losing important files. Let a good software tool do that for you, safely and effectively.

Help Fix My Computer Quickly and Easily!

Will somebody help fix my computer quickly and easily? I posted that exact same question in forum once. It was a very active forum populated by newbie computer technicians, gadget or technology lovers and even professional computer experts. Within just an hour of my posting that topic, ten people replied, each giving an advice or suggestion on how to best help fix my computer.

Fixing a computer can be such a daunting task especially to a non expert user. When all that you know about computers is to type a document and view websites, you might probably panic with the first few signs of a computer problem.

When I posted the 'help fix my computer' topic on the forum, I was then experiencing a very slow performance from my computer system. My computer is actually more than a year old already and as some people would say it is quite expected for a computer to start to slow down especially if you install a lot of software and use your computer on a regular basis. But that does not mean it cannot be fixed and restored to its previous faster performance.

The first reply I got for my 'help fix my computer' thread was a suggestion from a tech support agent telling me to do a disk error check. This one I already knew and I already tried it but I further asked if there was anything specific that I should do regarding that disk check. The fellow replied and told me how to do it. It was a very basic thing and almost every computer user already knows it but the problem is not everybody uses it. So I proceeded to the next reply.

Another guy suggested that I do a virus scan. He argued that there are a lot of computer viruses who do nothing else but to deliberately slow down the performance of a computer. I followed his suggestion so I installed an anti-virus software, ran it, and the program found about a couple of viruses. It was able to remove the viruses and my computer indeed performed better than before. But still, it was a bit slow so turned back to my 'help fix my computer' forum thread.

Another fellow advised me to defrag my hard drive. Again, this was a very basic thing and I already performed that operation that same day. It took about an hour to defrag my two hard drives, probably because of the size of the disks as well as the number of files that were installed there.

Finally, the one suggestion that truly solved my computer problem was from a guy who told me to download a free registry cleaner and run it on my machine. I was not very familiar with registry cleaners so the fellow walked me through it. I installed the registry cleaner, activated it and it cleaned up my Windows registry. And with just that, my computer was finally working perfectly! It was fast again and now I don't have to wait for minutes and minutes of loading time whenever I open a computer program.

If you need help fixing a slow computer. There are a few things you can try yourself. Following the tips in this article will cure most slow computer

First of all you want to start by doing a general cleanup on your computer. Click the my computer icon and find your C drive. Right-click on it and hit properties. There you will find the disk cleanup button. The next thing you want to do is upgrade your anti virus definitions and run a full scan on your PC. You want to make sure you don't have a virus hiding somewhere on your computer.

After that step is completed you want to run a scan for spyware. If you are infected, this can slow your computer down drastically. Spyware will run in the background without you knowing it using up a lot of your resources making it unavailable for other programs to use.

However, the biggest reason a computer will slow down over time is because of a corrupt registry. When your PC boots or starts any application, it has to refer to the registry. If your files are corrupted, damaged, missing, or stuffed with orphaned files that referred to nothing you will need to repair this in order to restore your computers performance.

Anytime you install or uninstall programs you create a new registry key. The uninstall programs that come with most software does not do a complete job, they leave behind files, which makes your registry become bloated after time. Improper shutdowns, power losses, blue screens, or crashes will also corrupt your files.

To repair and restore your registry you'll need a third party software program to do this for you. Windows does not come with any scanner/cleaner for this. Not sure if you have errors? Download one of the free trials and run it. This way, you will know if you need to purchase the full version.

If you have done all of the above and still have a slow running computer. You may need to upgrade your physical memory. Memory is cheap these days, and if you have an empty slot inside your PC. You can usually doubled your memory by inserting a new memory stick. Older and slower hard drives can also cause applications to load slowly. If you are hearing funny noises from inside your computer case like grinding or noisy hard drive. It may be on the verge of going bad. You should consider backing up all of your files just in case.

90% of computer problems can be cured with software though. Once you give your PC a thorough cleaning and tuneup you will be amazed at the increased speed and performance. It should run like it did the day you bought it. So you may not have to buy a new computer after all.

Training in Computer Forensics

There are a lot of different classes and courses that are offered via the internet, one of those kinds of courses is the computer forensics training. Of course, before you sign up for this class, there are a few things that you are going to want to know. One of those things is, what is computer forensics anyway? You are also going to want know why you should take the class in the first place. How is it going to benefit you? Also, you are going to want to know if there are any prerequisites that you may need to have before you join one of these courses. Now, all courses are going to be different, but after reading this information, you will have a better understanding of what most classes are going to ask of you.

So first of all, what is computer forensics? Pretty much, this is the preservation, as well as the identification and extraction, of computer evidence. This can aid in court hearings and provide expert opinions in the court room after finding necessary information. Pretty much, the whole world is turning to computers, and thus, computer forensic training is much needed. The court system needs people that have the ability to find documentation in computers and use it for evidence. There are few people that have the skills that are needed for this kind of job, but it's something that you can learn to do after taking computer forensic training courses.

Now, you know what computer forensics is, but why should you get into this field, what is it going to do for you? Well, this is going to help you with any kind of technology related field of work. For example, it would help you become a new security personnel for a company or may be even an IT security officer. You would be able to work as a network engineer or even the computer administrator of a big business. Most people that get this kind of certification like to become online troubleshooters and technicians. As you can see, there are lots of jobs that you can get after getting this kind of certification, and that is why so many people want to take these courses.

The last question you more than likely have is, are there any prerequisites? Now, this is, of course, going to depend on what course you choose to take. However, some of the courses ask that you have several years of experience in the information technology field. A lot of them like for you to have experience as a windows-based troubleshooter. Of course, people who are good with PC repair or experience as some kind of computer administrator are usually welcome too. They say at the very least, most students will need some kind of A+ certification or experience that is the equivalent to that. Also, courses will have you sign an online copy of a Code of Ethics. This is to insure that you are going to use the information that you gain from that course to better man kin

How to Personalise Your Computer

This is not an article about Windows. It is not an article about any Operating System. This is about hardware, pure and simple.

Now, "why is he writing about this?", you might be asking yourself. After all, everyone seems to be obsessed about software and the Internet. The hardware is just there to make all that happen, right? As long as the monitor is big and the mouse cordless, that's all that matters as far as style goes...

Well, it hasn't escaped my attention over the years that people seem to have a blindspot when it comes to computer styling. While they spend a great deal of money on their house, furniture, clothes, TV, plants, etc... they opt for an ugly mass-produced computer or sell out and buy an expensive stylish computer (that is identical to millions of others). Hardware personalisation is usually called computer modification, or "Mod".

First of all, let's get the preconceptions out of the way. The computer casing is usually the biggest, and therefore most visible part of your computer. You can try to hide it under the table (let me know if this interests you, then I'll write an article about it). The casing only really serves one purpose: To hold all the pieces together. The outside is not important to the software. Your programs don't run faster because the box is black.

All you need to worry about as far as the casing is concerned, is that the fan ventilation holes are unobstructed and that you can reach all the buttons, USB ports, etc... The computer casing can be any shape, size and colour, within reason.

Let's take a quick example. Say your computer is next to a bookcase. Why not make it look like a giant book? If you like jewellery, why not make it look like a giant diamond? Or even goldplate it? As I said, as long as the ventilation is unaffected, the software doesn't care about external appearance.

Now, I'm not going to go into detail as regards craftwork. What I can do is point out a few of the common mods out there. If you're building your own computer, there are many stylish cases available (mine looks a bit like HAL, the computer with the eye in 2001: A Space Odyssey). If you've bought a ready-made computer, then the first thing you might consider are LEDs. These are lights that glow or flash, and come in different shapes and colours. I guess they're a cheap way to bring some life to your computer's appearance.

However the simplest solutions are sometimes the best. Why not paint your casing? It can also be airbrushed, stencilled, drawn on, etc... You can put pictures on it, even wallpaper. The outer casing doesn't even need to be metal. How about wood, glass, plastic? Make it into the shape of a star, or a heart.

There are also mods for the drive bays (where your CD drive is). A common one is a fan control system, where you can adjust the fan speed. You can also get flashing RAM and glowing fans.

My point is, you don't need to see your computer as an obligatory dull tool. It's not a drain cover or a septic tank. It's a high-tech piece of kit that can be every bit as stylish and desirable as your gigantic TV (well, nearly). Your creativity and resourcefulness will determine how much it costs you.

How to Make My Computer Run Faster With 3 Simple Steps

Is your computer running too slow for you? Are you finding that it takes a long time to boot up, whereas before it was quick as a rabbit? Are you wondering, "How to make my computer run faster ?"If your computer is running at turtle speed, you have come to the right place. In this article, we will outline three simple steps that you follow to make your computer run faster and more efficiently for your needs.

Step #1 - Maintain Your Computer

Are you ready to get started? Great! The first thing you need to think about is the amount of websites that you visit on a daily basis. Did you know that with each website that you visit, you are literally downloading some of these files in efforts to make your computer load them faster the next time you want to access that same website? You are also downloading cookies from websites and saving a history of each site you visit.

All of these can dramatically affect your computer's speed and slow it down if you do not do something about it. So, to get rid of these things, you should make sure to clean it out. You can do this by making sure that you delete temporary files, browsing history, cookies, and empty out the recycle bin on your computer. This should be done regularly, weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly. In fact, some people perform this maintenance daily.

Step #2 - Get Rid Of What You Don't Need

If you have too many programs on your computer, this could really put a damper on its speed. The first thing you need to do is delete any programs that you do not use. This can free up space and free up some speed. At the same time, you need to take a look at the items running on your computer at all times. These things, especially if unneeded, could have a major affect on the speed of your computer.

Therefore, you want to prevent unneeded programs from booting with your computer and running in the background. The safest way to do this is to go into the program options and find a box that says "run at startup" or something similar and uncheck the box. There are other ways, but if you do not know the necessary programs that must run on your computer, it is not a good idea to go those routes.

Step #3 - Clean Out Your Registry

This is something that you will want to download a program for. Cleaning out your registry is not something that you want to do yourself. Your registry is basically the hub of your computer, one wrong move and it could render your computer completely useless. However, cleaning out the registry is a big step, one which must be done because it too can affect the speed of your computer. Left over files, errors, or deleted programs can still remain in the registry.

Registry cleaner downloads are available, download and scan your computer. After the scan, let the registry cleaner make the proper corrections.

Now that we've answered the question of "How to make my computer run faster ," it is time to get started. Once you take these steps you will notice that using your computer for the internet, programs, or anything will be much faster and easier.

My Computer Sucks How Can I Can Increase Its Performance

Are you sick and tired of dealing with computer problems on a daily basis? If you are tired of saying "my computer sucks how can I increase its performance" then you have come to the right place. We have personally dealt with slow computer issues.

Warning Spyware Detected on Your Computer - Anatomy of a Virtumonde Infection

It is the most widely circulated spyware hoax today yet most people still haven't heard of it - until they receive the dreaded "Warning Spyware Detected on Your Computer" message. If you have gotten this message, you are infected with a nasty little spyware application known as Virtumonde. And if you've clicked on the popup thinking you were going to install software that would scan and clean your computer, you are in even worse shape.

It is an exploit that is targeted to take advantage of the nearly 80% of Internet users that do not currently use antispyware software on their computer and it is making its way computers across the globe and in alarming numbers.

It is called Virtumonde (or Win32/Adware Virtumonde.)

It first rears its ugly head by showing you a popup that states "Warning Spyware Detected on Your Computer" or "Warning Spyware Threat Has Been Detected on Your PC" or some variation of those and that popup lures you to click on it in order to download and install software to fix your supposed spyware infection.

The bad news is that if you do get this popup, you already have spyware on your computer but the worse news is that if you click on the popup, it is about to get a whole lot worse.

What happens when you click on the popup is that additional spyware software is immediately downloaded and installed. And what that spyware software does is it downloads even more spyware without you knowing it and it will then inundate your computer with popups and adware. So you essentially have started this vicious loop of continuous spyware that continually infects your computer over and over again.

This is what makes Virtumonde removal virtually impossible if not done using proven and effective antispyware software.

There is simply no way that you can even attempt to remove it manually because as you are removing one group of files, another group of spyware infected files are being installed onto your computer.

So if you've seen the "Warning Spyware Detected on Your Computer Message" rear its ugly head, you need to stop everything else you are doing and get your hands on top notch antispyware software immediately because if you don't, you might as well shut your computer down and never turn it on again as you'll likely find yourself engaged in a never ending popup battle.
